In modern conditions the problem of uncertainty tolerance is of great importance: people are frequently faced with unpredictable changes in society. The work defines the concept of "uncertainty tolerance", "intolerance", and "interpersonal tolerance." A personality tolerant to uncertainty considers any uncertain situation as an opportunity for choice, development, obtaining of new experience, does not experience destructive anxiety in uncertain situations, and is able to actively and effectively affect them. Uncertainty intolerance is the desire for clarity, consistency, and uncertainty avoidance. The author analyzes certain measures of the individual openness for change: vigor, resourcefulness, optimism, initiative, courage, adaptiveness, confidence, ambiguity tolerance. The paper contains comparative analysis of indicators of tolerance and openness to changes shown by men and women.
