THE PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL INCLUSION OF ELDERLY AND SENILE PERSONS

Bukhalova N.A.

Abstract

The paper gives the analysis of geronto-social understanding of senility and aging. The problem of elderly persons exclusion from the society considered in the paper is particularly topical due to the Russian population greying caused by the fertility dynamics and expectancy of life. The issues of late age are polemic as the academic circles and the public consciousness did not create any uniform assessment of this period of human life. The senility image is historically determined and being transformed under the influence of various world paradigms. In the ancient world and in the medieval period, the ideas of senility were parts of encyclopedic scientific and theological knowledge about a person. The attitude to the final vital stage was dual, on the one hand this period can be perceived as the full-fledged period of life, on the other hand – as degradation. In the XX century, the social and philosophical understanding of senility is connected with the category of “social exclusion”. In the western social psychology, the theory of separation and theory of activity are topical today. The theory of separation considers the aloofness of elderly persons as the socially and biologically associated and inevitable process underlying in the system of social updating. The author proves the voluntary basis of the exclusion from the social space as the aging releases an elderly person from all obligations to the society. The authors of the theory of activity defend the necessity to retain social activity of elderly persons as the needs and the system of values of the older generation are similar to social orientations of middle age people. The results of the study of social status of elderly persons prove the existence of the older generation exclusion, on the basis of which the necessity of creating conditions for maintenance of social subjectivity of an elderly person, the activation of life in senility for the purpose of its quality increase. The author made the conclusion that the late age can become the period of social roles retaining, and also of the development of new ones.

PHENOMENOLOGY OF IDENTITY SELF-DEVELOPMENT

Ivanova I.V.

Abstract

This paper is the result of theoretical generalizations on the problems of retrospective analysis of the self-development concept. Analysis of the philosophical literature enables the author to identify two basic ideas: self-development as a form of existence of all living organisms, and understanding the ability for self-development as a human generic characteristic. The comparison has been performed of understanding of the meaning of identity self-development in the theory of humanistic and existential psychology on the basis of “view of the essence of an individual”. In the humanistic approach it is stated that the human nature is certainly positive, the meaning of education is to facilitate mainstreaming the positive inborn abilities of a personality. In the existential approach, when considering a conditional-positive human nature, the meaning of education is to help in the selection – the most important are interests of the human. Theoretical analysis of the literature has shown that nowadays in pedagogy and psychology there are three major areas of considering the category of identity self-development: self-development as a fundamental ability, the highest and essential human need; self-development as self-formation; self-development as development of one’s "selfhood". Understanding of self-development in the first area is based on a personal approach of the humanistic psychology; all the rest get their understanding of the essence of self-development on the activity basis of the existential approach. The approach of Russian teachers and psychologists to the problem of identity self-development are unanimous in the fundamental assertion that in the process of self-development a person gets a lot of new skills and abilities, which have not been actualized before; this demonstrates the meaning of self-development as opposed to the traditional Western humanistic pedagogy and psychology where self-development is understood through the actualization of inborn qualities and capabilities.

Kirillova M.V.

Abstract

Nowadays new information technologies are extensively introduces into educational process. This tendency is accompanied by the implementation of new concepts and new English and Russian terms into a scientific-methodological practice. Such a rapid flow of new information and new terminology causes considerable difficulties in their understanding and adequate usage by foreign language teachers, and first of all, by the teachers of English, as there is no information-technological component and, as a consequence, there are no special dictionaries. This situation requires the creation of the appropriate learner’s dictionary of the English-Russian terminology in computer linguodidactics which could be used as a specific tool in formation of the professional competence of the contemporary English language teacher. To create such a dictionary, the author of the work suggests generating a database as a convenient form of working with terminology that will enable to work faster with the material, be easy to correct and make necessary amendments. The given terminological database is bilingual (English and Russian) and consists of five topical fields. Each topical field has its own name and includes terminology of a specific scope.

Abstract

The approved standards of the state documents require modernization of the system of continuous education of the Russian Federation on the ground of competence-based approach. The state educational standards on each discipline of curricula of the universities provide a list of competences that the students should gain in the course of study. However, the problem is that this discrete process of the competences formation is not followed by their integration. The students have to be responsible for achievement of integrity of autonomous competences in the form of integrated competencies, and they are not prepared for that.

The analysis of researches and publications, which studied the aspects of this problem and which the author accepts as the ground, shows that the problem should be solved in such a way that the process of autonomous formation of individual competences of students has to be supported by pedagogically managed integration, and attainment of their integrity. One of such integral units studied by many researchers is the socio-cultural competence which represents integrative set of social and cultural competences. However, the unsolved part of the problem under discussion is design of the process of formation of socio-cultural competency of students in the form of pedagogical system with inherent structural components: purpose, contents, methods, features of activity of teachers and students.

The purpose of this work is in justification of the structure and maintenance of system of formation of socio-cultural competence of undergraduate students on the example of training specialists in historical and cultural tourism. The following ideas are used as a foundation for reaching this purpose and gaining the objectives:

- continuity, phasing, and-to-end nature of the process of integral competence formation;

- use of potential opportunities of all disciplines of the curriculum in competence formation;

- distinguishing the priority of the formed component of socio-cultural competence at each stage;

- introduction into the program of the course "Creative self-development of socio-cultural competence of students" and the program of advanced training course for university teachers on formation of socio-cultural competency of students.

VERBAL COMPETENCES DEVELOPMENT IN THE PROCESS OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE ENGINEERS

Ryabinova E.N., Marchenkova L.A.

Abstract

The authors consider the relevance of development of verbal competences of technical high school graduates in the process of their vocational training. The necessity of development of vocational oral communication in the process of training future engineers is caused by the fact that technical education has some key differences from humanitarian one. It occurs due to the prevalence of disciplines based on the exact sciences and more clearly structured organization of training. Verbal competences are mainly developed within the general disciplines of the humanities and natural sciences, which are studied at the beginning of training. While teaching vocational disciplines to the upper years’ students, the priority goal is to develop vocational competences. It leads to inadequate development of knowledge and skills in the field of oral communication. It creates the necessity to develop verbal competences of the technical high school students during the process of learning general and specialty disciplines, which should harmonize with the main goals, take into account the prospects of development of higher technical education at the stage of development of a new educational conception. It is shown that the future engineer training requires the development of verbal competences of the students in technical high school: the ability to reflect, to understand, to analyze, to control, and to generalize the information; to get new knowledge and to manage own verbal and cogitative process. The task of development of verbal competences of future engineers causes the necessity to develop the theory and methodology of the system of the students’ oral culture development in the process of learning general and specialty disciplines. It requires the design and development of new educational technologies involving additional forms and methods for laboratory work, business games, seminars, writing of self-dependent tasks in the form of essay, explanatory notes and so on.

CONCEPTUAL GROUNDS FOR FORMATION OF ECOLOGICAL SELF-AWARENESS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Syaska I.A.

Abstract

Environmental education and upbringing in higher education is a constituent part of the entire environmental education system. At the same time, formation of ecological self-awareness among the university students has not been the subject of special psychological and pedagogical study. Ecological self-awareness is a necessary condition and management component of any conscious human activity. It has the same structure as individual self-consciousness. However, it contains a qualitatively new content which is aimed at the establishment, regulation and support of the bond between “I” and “the environment”. Based on generalized definition of the “ecological self-awareness” concepts represented in the scientific literature the authors have given their own interpretation. Formation of ecological self-awareness at young age is directly associated with environmental education and the process of vocational training. The research substantiates the concept of building the educational process content at a university aimed at establishment and consolidation of a system of ecological value orientations of university students. Conceptual grounds for value determination of students’ ecological self-awareness are developed on the methodological, theoretical and technological levels.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF METHODOLOGICAL (PEDAGOGICAL) COMPETENCE OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHER

Tatarnitseva S.N.

Abstract

The social order of the society leads to the increased training requirements to a teacher of foreign languages (FL-teacher). The objective of the paper is to describe methodological competence in terms of subcompetences constituting it, and also in connection with other professional competences. Analyzing how other researchers characterize the professional competence necessary for a FL-teacher, the author comes to understanding that other research papers contain discrepancy in competence interpretations. Thus, it leads to misunderstanding of the content of individual competences, and therefore to difficulties in constructing accurate and measured sample of vocational training. Based on this fact, the author specifies what is necessary to consider a methodological competence, and how it can be linked to other competences of professional competency as an integrated structure. In the paper the methodological competence is presented as a system, the purpose of which is to develop methodological skills, and its hierarchical control element is motivation. The paper also describes the contents of the methodological competence, i.e., what knowledge and skills should be referred to the designing, organizational, motivation, analytical and adaptive subcompetences, as well as the characteristic features of professional reflection. In conclusion, the work shows the relationship between the methodological competence and socio-psychological, informational, subject and research competences in the holistic characteristics of professional competency of the FL-teacher.

COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AS A MODERN EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME

Tolikina E.A.

Abstract

The paper contains the results of the study on the problem of formation and development of the key modern educational outcome – communicative competence. After examining methodological and scientific literature on the subject, the author has presented different interpretation of the definitions of communicative competence and expertise. The author also represents their own vision and gives the definition of these concepts. In addition, the author explores the question of the structure of communicative competence, which still has no unique solution. Based on the statements of scientists, the author offers an effective structure of communicative competence based on its definition. Understanding of the concept and structure of communicative competence has given the author an opportunity to explore the issue of its formation, because it has been insufficiently studied in the educational environment of secondary professional education. The author suggests methods and ways of formation of communicative skills on the basis of professional specifics of the graduates. Based on these considerations, the author has created an integrative literature course for students of vocational institutions. The main method of communicative competence formation within this course is the case-study method. The paper gives examples of cases in the discipline «Literature». Having denoted modern methods of formation of communicative competence, the author states that to achieve the educational outcome it is required to have the system of its diagnostics and evaluation of formation. This system was tested and approved in the educational process of Nizhny Novgorod State University of Engineering and Economics in the course of the subject “Literature”.

THE FORMATION OF MOTIVATION OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION STUDENTS TO THE INDEPENDENT WORK AS THE BASIS OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES DEVELOPMENT

Tretyakova E.M., Odaryich I.N.

Abstract

For successful implementation of the educational cognitive activity, a student has to possess a number of competences that includes, in particular, the ability to master new knowledge independently. Readiness for independent work is one of the most important conditions for successful educational activity. These circumstances lead to the conclusion that today the problem of formation of the students’ motivation to independent work is especially acute. The training as the presentation of system of knowledge transforms into the necessity of development of skills for the independent educational cognitive activity of the students.

Starting education in a higher education institution, a former school student deals with a number of new circumstances: sharp decrease of the level of external control over his independent activity, change of the educational activity structure (the specificity of educational process is that the in-class learning takes about a half of study time, and the students have to master a large part of learning material independently).

The ability to work independently helps students to develop mental set for independent systematic knowledge acquisition and the development of abilities to use scientific and public information while solving new cognitive tasks. The development of these abilities is promoted by the activation of the students’ independent work when they solve creative tasks useful for their future profession both individually and in-group.

The modernization of the Russian education provides the increase in amount of independent work and the strengthening of its role. Students have to form the appropriate competences, first during the extra-curricular individual work and to seize bases of the systematized knowledge.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF INTERNET ADDITION

Bergis T.A., Azizova L.R.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is one of the most important issues of research in psychology. Without effective communication at certain stages of development, a person cannot obtain the necessary knowledge, experience and skills for effective interaction in society. However, parents and teachers underestimate influence of effective interpersonal communication in most parts of the youth life. Lack of immediate communication between young people is one of the reasons that cause deviant behavior including various addictions. The paper introduces the concept of interpersonal communication; analyses its characteristics regarding the students who have different internet addiction behavior types; describes adolescent communication problems. The results of the research (n=98) reveal the fact that communication of 28.6 % high school students aged between 15 and 17 is unsuccessful with reference to such personality problems as low communicativeness, shyness, detachment, anxiety, autistic characteristics and vulnerability. The research reveals correlation between successful communication and internet addiction behavior of young people who have no communication skills needed for free and effective communication and social adaptation – ability to approach and dialogue; ease and confidence in communication; spontaneity; ability to influence and persuade.

CULTURAL DETERMINATION OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL (SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS)

Bolshakova O.B.

Abstract

Today, the intercultural communicative competence is an object of research of various scientific fields; this fact determines the variation and the versatility of its concepts. On the one hand, it proves the significance and the relevance of this phenomenon, but on the other hand, it generates some sort of disagreement in defining its essence and the factors determining its development specific character. The analysis of psycho-pedagogical conditions of formation of the intercultural communicative competence is associated with the research of socio-psychological factors of its development. Culture is considered one of the key categories in this context. The paper analyses various definitions of the concept of “culture” from the perspective of relations with the social interaction on intracultural and intercultural levels, and considers the issues of correlation of the concepts of “enculturation” and “socialization”, and the enculturation and ethnocentrism interrelation. The author made a conclusion that, in the line of intercultural interaction, culture is the complex multilevel system determining the individual formation and development. Ethnic culture is specified as the context determining the specific character of the individual socialization and enculturation processes and their results.

Meteleva L.A.

Abstract

The paper emphasizes the importance of personality development of both students and teachers in the context of formation of a new educational concept affecting contemporary vision of the educational process and organization of interaction within the learning environment. Transactional analysis model developed by E. Berne is used as the basis for status and role approach which is considered by the author as a factor of students’ communicative competence development. The work reveals the meaning of the three inner elements of the “I” (state of a Parent, a Child, and an Adult) within the personality structure. The author underlines the importance of activization and strengthening of the Adult state as it facilitates a meaningful dialogue between the parties in terms of equal partnership, cooperation, and creative potential development.
