Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of existing ideas how to improve scientific intercultural communication of non-linguistic specialty teachers'. It suggests a model which integrates approaches to building a new component of professional competence reflecting the teachers’ readiness for scientific cross-cultural communication in English. The system-building factor in the model is acmeological ideas suggested by N.V. Kuzmina.

Non-linguistic specialty teachers are offered the mechanism of a divergent modular approach to build, gradually and step-by-step, the component of their professional competence in a foreign language, and techniques to implement this mechanism within the system of extended education at a higher educational institution.
