Abstract
The paper analyzes the concept of “educational potential of a region” as the multicomponent system playing the important role in social stability and social outlook of a region, as well as in modernization of its economic infrastructure. The author evaluates the educational potential indicators of Tambov region (knowledge accumulated by the society and stored on physical media, activity experience and competences of the region citizens, educational research community and education infrastructure of the Russian Federation territorial entity), and analyzes them in temporal dynamics and in comparison with the neighboring regions (Lipetsk, Penza, Voronezh, Saratov and Ryazan regions). The author revealed key problems hampering the growth of educational potential of Tambov region and suggested measures for its development (intensification of regional library stock digital remastering and organization of access to digitally remastered materials through the computer networks and data storage devices; the improvement of monitoring results of the institutions of higher and secondary vocational education of Tambov region, first of all due to the educational services quality; the development of more flexible educational policy of Tambov region by means of close interaction with regional employers, as well as by the intensification and profilisation of extended education of children).
