Abstract
Analysis of the socio-psychological literature on gender does not allow a clear, unambiguous definition of this concept. This is due, primarily, a reflection of the methodological principles of gender studies, consisting in multiplicity, pluralism, constructivism understanding of the term, and secondly, in the dynamism of this concept signified phenomenon, which depends on the cultural, social context, on the specifics of gender relations in different societies , ethnic groups, classes, generations in different historical periods.
