RFID – MEANS TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY OF LIBRARY INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER

Abstract

The article describes the technology of radio frequency identification (RFID), an analysis of the publications of its use in various fields, including in the activities of libraries, both foreign and Russian. Advantages of RFID automation of the main technological processes of library of higher education institution are specified, their efficiency as in internal work (inventory, the accounting of funds) is shown, and in service of readers, problems of introduction of the RFID technologies are noted. The important feature of RFID tags - protection against loss and theft. In library of higher education institution the organization of a free access to funds that allows to increase quality and efficiency of library service of users is the main reason of expediency of introduction of RFID technology. Comparison of bar code labeling with RFID shows obvious advantages multipurpose labels. The article also indicated problems in implementing technology RFID, primarily financial. Improving outcomes on key indicators proves the effectiveness of RFID-technology. Increasing information literacy readers is the result of the training library functions, the improvement of which is associated with the increasing automation of library technology. Introduction of technologies of radio-frequency identification will allow library of higher education institution to move to qualitatively new level of work and will play an important role in the scientific organization of work of library as modern information and educational center.
