INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION COMPETENCE: THEORETICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

The intensive process of society informatization and information-communication technologies introduction in various branches of economy, such as medicine, education, government service and others makes people acquire knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for being able to interact in information space, “to be in the movement” and to be in high demand on the labor market. Under modern circumstances the problem of informatization of the modern Russian society is still urgent. It’s due, firstly, to the low level of information-communication competence of the majority of the society members. Secondly, there are no perfect training techniques for preparing people to information technologies usage and accurate system for assessing the competence level formed as a result of training process. The article presents the component structure and substantive content of the information and communication competence, proposed criteria for its evaluation.
